Diabolic Claw Burr

After Juno designed Samarium burr puzzle, he wanted to have a more coherent puzzle configuration. Because of the nature of many high-level burr puzzles, they are sometimes too incoherent or have too much play both for the assembled shape and during assemblies/disassemblies. Adding cubes between the pair of two separating pieces is a good idea to get around this issue. A great burr puzzle designer Ronald Kint-Bruynseels took this option and designed Hollowood in 2003 but interestingly, not so many people seemed to have followed and investigated this assembled shape.

Diabolic Claw Burr has a unique level 33-6-3-4-2 solution and there are only two possible assemblies. It makes the puzzle doable to human beings if he or she tries harder and impatiently. If all six claws are removed, the puzzle still has a unique level 19-4-7-6-4 solution but the number of the assemblies increases to 1354. So, do the claws make the puzzle rather easier and less diabolic? We can at least say that finding the 33 moves unique solution is diabolic enough and you would feel accomplished when you solve the puzzle without computer aids.

African Ebony is used for the claw pieces attached on the CNC-machined main parts made of our original plywood.
