Jigsaw puzzles can be created by cutting pieces with a jigsaw. So, what kind of puzzle would result if, instead of using a jigsaw to cut curves, you used a saw that cuts straight lines? Juno pondered this idea and designed a puzzle that replaces the interlocking tabs and blanks of a jigsaw puzzle with the north and south poles of magnets. Each piece has six embedded magnets, and the frame that holds the pieces also contains 14 embedded magnets. In a way, it's like a jigsaw puzzle with slightly more tabs and blanks, where you can't easily tell which pieces belong to the edges or corners.

The magnets embedded in the pieces are relatively strong, so if the pieces are placed incorrectly, the repulsion between the pieces themselves or between the pieces and the frame will prevent them from fitting neatly. Please arrange the pieces in the frame so that all the magnets attract each other correctly. For a relatively simple challenge, try forming a square with the six pieces without using the frame. There are 80 possible solutions, but only one of them will result in a configuration where all the magnets attract each other when placed in the frame. If you rotate the square formed by the pieces 90 degrees from its original orientation and place it in the frame, you can deactivate six of the embedded magnets. When selling this puzzle, we use this trick to arrange the pieces in the frame in a configuration that differs from the solution.

When playing with this puzzle, you will realize how much people rely on visual information. If the north and south poles of the magnets were replaced with tabs and blanks, many people would likely solve the puzzle relatively quickly. However, without visible tabs and blanks, it becomes harder to notice if you're taking the wrong approach to solving the puzzle. There was a concern that this puzzle might not appeal much to puzzle enthusiasts, as its flat and boring appearance belies the time-consuming and costly manufacturing process. However, since we had never seen a puzzle like this before, it became a puzzle that Juno "had to produce." As a result, it turned into a uniquely unconventional puzzle, so if you're interested, please give it a try.

The solution to this puzzle will be supplied upon request by Burr Tools file format.
