Ovoloid

Like our former product Pseudo Ovolo, this burr also reminds Ovolo designed by prolific puzzle designer Yavuz Demirhan. The initial name of the puzzle was 531 Burr representing the end profile of the each pieces but we thought that it was good to use Ovolo honoring the first invention of this family. Ovoloid consists of seven pieces, the fewest of the three Ovolo families, but requires 21 moves, that is the highest number to remove the first piece from the assembled shape.

Disassembling the puzzle is possible without clues, but reassembly without knowing the position and orientation of each piece is almost impossible for humans. There are so many pathways and dead ends along the way to solving that you quickly lose track of whether you are going in the right direction.

This rather big burr puzzle is 40% more voluminous than Pseudo Ovolo. Five kinds of woods, described below are used for this burr puzzle. As with many of our board burr puzzles, the 5-unit-wide and 3-unit-wide pieces are made of our original plywood. Please be aware that the sapwood of Bubinga has many grub holes, especially where the surface has a very distinctive pattern, which were not filled in this time. Juno intentionally chose these surfaces so that they would be visible from the outside when the puzzle is assembled.

The puzzle is sold assembled. The solution to this puzzle will be supplied upon request by Burr Tools file format.
